Phil Senior

lol what can i say about Phil! a few years ago the club was dying, we had an average of 3 or 4 people turning up each week. Phil moved back to the area and totally revolutionised the club. Basically we are a club again thanks to Phil. He is currently inactive due to taking over "The Dog and Partridge" we hope he can squeeze in a few A team games after Christmas.

Chris Chadwick

Another excellent junior, Chris is one of the diehard members atr the moment, playing for the A team, B team Manchester League team and 400 League team! If he sticks at it Chris could be very good, lots of potential.

This is me, somehow i was made captain at this years AGM! Im 23 which i'd say probably makes me younger then just about any other Captain in the league, i think this has both positive and negative aspects. I also keep the website up to date. Basically as Captain it is my Job to pick teams to win, i rarely use the same board order from one match to the next.

Joe Chambers

One of the most solid and dependable players at the club. Joe is also the club secretary. Joe has a huge amount of chess playing experience. One of our top players, his current rating is not a true reflection of Joe's ability.

Charlie Sharp

When Charlie is right he is in my opinion the second best player at the club. He was ill for most of last year which accounts for his low rating, however recently he has played some fine games and if this continues he will continue to rise up the board order.

Steven Jones

Steven is the 400 League captain this year. A very complicated player! Brilliant at tactics, but perhaps sometimes a bit hasty, which leads to blunders. One of my most reliable players, played more games then anyone else last season. This year Steven seems to have taken another step forward, i think you can crack 100 this year!

The youngest player at the club, and perhaps one day has the potential to be the best. George is only ten years old but can still beat anyone at the club on his day. George plays a very solid game and rarely makes mistakes.

Peter Dodsworth

Another very reliable member of the team. Peter joined us last year after playing in our summer tournament, we are very grateful for a huge sack full of chess magazines he provided for us, also a massive bag full of carbon copy scoresheets which were desperatly needed at the time. Thanks Peter!

Richard is the Captain of "Central Chess Club" and also Roberts dad! They both play for us in the Manchester League, I always feel when i play Richard that even if i am ahead I need to be careful as he never gives up. A good match player.

Steve Wagstaff

A true did hard member of the club, we couldn't keep going without Steve. He is the club tresurer and also a regular B team player. Steve was ill for much of last year and his form suffered. However he is now back, Steve has had a tough start to the season but i know from his form when I first joined the club that he is a very capable player, and his current grade is nothing like a reflection of his true playing strength.

Alan is another long time member of the club. He is at the club every week whether there is a match on or not. He really enjoys playing chess, its great to have members like Alan at the club.

Derek Hankey

Derek has played for Padgate for years and years! Always capable of a big upset when Derek plays as he has a very good tactical chess ability, perhaps a weakness is playing a bit too fast. Derek is a really nice guy who also does alot to encourage new members.

Ian Parkinson

Ian has not been a member all that long, but is very keen to learn. I'm grateful to Ian for helping to keep the social chess side of the club going when alot of us are tied up in a match. As Ian improves i'm sure he will become a vital squad playing member.

Plays on chessworld as "Tigerjames" has already played a game for us this year. Due to the distance James lives away from the club he can only come down occasionally but we are always grateful whenever he can play!
