John Wordsworth  164  Since Joining the club John has quickly established himself as our top player, very strong on endgames and helps many of us at the club by annotating some of the games we have played. Here is Johns Website http://padgatechess.dynalias.org/index.php
Tony Barwise  147  Tony hasn't played chess for a number of years but used to play at a fairly high level for Bolton years ago. We are hoping he will be able to revive some of the old magic for Padgate this year.
Phil Senior  n/a  lol what can i say about Phil! a few years ago the club was dying, we had an average of 3 or 4 people turning up each week. Phil moved back to the area and totally revolutionised the club. Basically we are a club again thanks to Phil. He is currently inactive due to taking over "The Dog and Partridge" we hope he can squeeze in a few A team games after Christmas.
Damian McCarthy  142  This is me, somehow i was made captain at this years AGM! Im 24 which i'd say probably makes me younger then just about any other Captain in the league, i think this has both positive and negative aspects. I also keep the website up to date.
Joe Chambers  112  Joe is one of the most solid and dependable players at the club. As well as being the clubs president he is captain of our B team in division 4.
Charlie Sharp  140  Charlie has been one of the top players at Padgate for a great many years, and was our player of the season in 2008/2009
Gary Hunter  107  Gary is one of our newest members, he made a fine contribution to the B team at the end of the 08/09 season helping them achieve division 4 victory. A good solid member of the squad.
Chris Chadwick   162  Chris is one of our top players, one of his greatest strengths is he is fairly machine like in beating players lower rated then himself, hardly ever slipping up and allowing draws.
Steven Jones  143  The most improved player at the club over the past few years, when he joined us 3 years ago Steven was one of our lower boards, now he is one of our strongest players. Very aggresive and has fun tactical games
George Fortune  138  The youngest player at the club, and perhaps one day has the potential to be the best. George can still beat anyone at the club on his day. George plays a very solid game and rarely makes mistakes.
Kris Nowak  UG   Kris is a quickplay specialist, however we are hoping he can adjust to play a few games for the A team this season in division 2.
Peter Dodsworth  98  Another very reliable member of the team. Peter joined us last year after playing in our summer tournament, we are very grateful for a huge sack full of chess magazines he provided for us, also a massive bag full of carbon copy scoresheets which were desperatly needed at the time. Thanks Peter!
Steve Wagstaff  88  A true did hard member of the club, we couldn't keep going without Steve. He is the club tresurer and also a regular B team player. Steve was ill for much of last year and his form suffered. However he is now back, Steve has had a tough start to the season but i know from his form when I first joined the club that he is a very capable player, and his current grade is nothing like a reflection of his true playing strength.
Richard Wood  u/g  The newest member of the club, Richard has only ever played Internet chess and never live over the board.
Alan O'Leary  n/a  Alan is another long time member of the club. He is at the club every week whether there is a match on or not. He really enjoys playing chess, its great to have members like Alan at the club.
Derek Hankey  66  Derek has played for Padgate for years and years! Always capable of a big upset when Derek plays as he has a very good tactical chess ability, perhaps a weakness is playing a bit too fast. Derek is a really nice guy who also does alot to encourage new members.
Ian Parkinson  45  Ian has not been a member all that long, but is very keen to learn. I'm grateful to Ian for helping to keep the social chess side of the club going when alot of us are tied up in a match. As Ian improves i'm sure he will become a vital squad playing member.
James Stephens  UG  James joined us after playing in our annual summer tournament a couple of years ago. Due to the distance he lives away from the club he can only play occasionally, however we are always grateful when he can and when he does he has a fantastic record!
Rhiann Jones  UG  Steven's little sister! And she reminds me alot of Steven a couple of years ago when he used to move so fast he would always trip over himself and make lots of terrible blunders. There again if she grows into the type of player Steven has become then she will be a tremendous asset to the club!
